One of the sides hoping to compete atop the Championship in 2026 have signed another player from Super League, with Sheffield Eagles now creating a formidable squad.

The Eagles, who had a torrid first year under Craig Lingard when they finished 11th in the Championship, have been very aggressive in the market already and signed a host of Super League names.

George Griffin and Josh Hodson have both arrived from Castleford Tigers whilst Joe Brown and Conor Fitzsimmons have both signed from promoted club York Knights.

Now, released Bradford Bulls centre Kieran Gill becomes the club’s latest signing as yet another player from one of the promoted Super League sides signs in the Steel City.

Gill has incredible pedigree in the Championship with his record at Bradford speaking for itself, scoring 74 tries in 111 games across four years, including 15 in 23 during the most recent 2025 season.

Sheffield Eagles sign Kieran Gill from Super League side Bradford Bulls

Sheffield had little time to build a squad under Craig Lingard ahead of the 2025 season with the former Castleford coach only arriving late in the off-season, however, they’ve rectified that this year by going early and going aggressive in the market.

Gill is the seventh signing and perhaps the most exciting given the sheer number of tries he has scored, 146 in 188 career games and the 29-year-old has now penned a two-year deal with the Eagles.

Sheffield will become his sixth side after Oldham, Oxford, Castleford, Newcastle and Bradford and he’s now been described by new head coach Craig Lingard as a ‘try-scoring machine’.

Lingard said: “Gilly has been a top-end Championship player for most of his career, a try-scoring machine and hopefully he can continue to score tries here at Sheffield next year.

“He’s really a nice and genuine bloke to have around, everyone speaks highly of him and for us to get someone of his ability is a good coup for us. Hopefully it shows what we’re about and what we want to do this season.”
