One of the players released by Hull KR at the end of the 2025 season has signed a deal to play in Super League for the 2026 campaign.

AJ Wallace was one of ten players to leave Hull KR at the end of the 2025 campaign with retiring pair Micky McIlorum and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves among the most prominent.

Wallace, like a couple of others on the list including Danny Richardson and Niall Evalds, spent much of the 2025 campaign out on loan and like that pair, he has now signed a new deal with the club he was loaned to.

The Jamaican international left Craven Park to sign with Toulouse Olympique on loan with coach Willie Peters admitting that it was a chance for the 22-year-old to put himself in the shop window.

He certainly did that with Toulouse so impressed that they’ve now signed him to a one-year deal meaning he’ll be playing in Super League for the French outfit in 2026.

Promoted Super League sign Toulouse Olympique sign AJ Wallace to permanent deal

The Olympians, who had confirmed the departure of three men including former Hull KR man Greg Richards, also confirmed the new deal for Wallace.

A club statement labeled him as a ‘significant asset’ to the club’s pack with his versatility noted having played at both prop and in the second row.

Speaking on his new deal, which runs to the end of the year, Wallace said: “When I heard that Toulouse wanted to sign me for the season earlier this year, I was excited. I still feel the same way about staying for another year.

“I’m excited about the challenges ahead, especially with the promotion to Super League! But I’m also excited about it because I know that if I work hard, I’ll improve as a player and as a person, and I hope to make my Super League debut, which has been my goal since I started taking rugby seriously.”

Head coach Sylvain Houles added: “It took Ajahni a period of adaptation at the beginning of his Toulouse adventure, but as soon as he knew how to seize his opportunity, he showed us his ability to beat defenders, to bring us impact, speed, density and his desire to wear the Toulouse jersey.

“We are therefore very happy that he is staying with us because after a full off-season with us, we can’t wait to see how far we can take him.”
