K-Way, the French brand known for its packable windbreakers and innovative designs, bold colors, and unique materials, has published a book to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
From city streets to fashion week catwalks, the brand has continued to evolve while remaining true to its roots, becoming an integral part of the daily lives of several generations and the collective imagination.
After inaugurating “In Y/Our Life–The Hidden Side of Everyday Things” in Milan in January, a retrospective that traces the most interesting stages in the history of the brand, now 60% owned by Basic Net and 40% by the Permira fund, it has published this exclusive volume that recounts its journey in the fashion world.
“K-Way: Six Decades of Style and Innovation” book
“K-Way: Six Decades of Style and Innovation” is a book by Pascal Monfort, fashion expert and founder of Ephemera, a Parisian bookshop entirely dedicated to fashion as well as a hybrid space that also houses an art gallery.
Richly illustrated, it traces the brand’s journey from its origins to the present day, combining archival material, contemporary images, and contributions from Jean-Charles de Castelbajac; Alexandre Mattiussi, founder of the Ami fashion brand; Domitille Brion, artistic director of Soeur; and Sophie de Mahieu, fashion and sports specialist at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
Striking the right balance between tradition and avant-garde, the brand continues to appeal to both families and trend-conscious urbanites.
From the wardrobes of the 1960s to today’s fashion week catwalks, the iconic windbreaker has established itself as a staple of modern fashion thanks to its functional, timeless, and versatile design.
This visually striking and informative book tells the story of how the brand continues to be a timeless and ever-changing classic after 60 years. The book will be available in K-Way stores in France and Italy, as well as in London and Madrid. It will also be available for purchase online on the brand’s websites.
To coincide with the book’s launch, Paris will host the exhibition from October 22 to 26, 2025, following Milan and London. For this highly anticipated final stop, the exhibition will come to life at the Atelier Richelieu, a prestigious venue located at 60 rue de Richelieu in Paris’s 2nd arrondissement, coinciding with the Art Basel Paris contemporary art fair.
With a surface area of 700 sq. meter spread over two levels and located in the Bourse/Palais Royal district, the space will become The K-Way Social Club: an open and inclusive lounge, a lively meeting place for figures from the art world, Parisian society, and the K-Way® community. At the heart of the project, the location’s café will feature a colorful interior, reflecting the spirit of the K-Way of Life.
