Charlie Miller ended up being pranked on national TV during his spell playing in Norway.

But the Ibrox legend fears the joke will be on Danny Rohl if the new Rangers gaffer doesn’t get off to a winning start against Brann Bergan.

Miller made the move to Scandinavia in 2004 and won a Norwegian Cup during a two-and-a-half year stint with Brann.

But he’s best remembered by the fans there for his appearance on a local sketch show Boff after being stitched up by his team-mates.

Miller found himself in a panic after being ‘framed for an armed robbery’ as police officers supposedly attempted to impound his car.

He said: “I got punked on Norwegian TV!

“My team-mates stitched me up and arranged for me to go on this prank telly show.

“I knew something was up, but I just couldn’t quite figure out what was going on.

“I came out after training to find all these police standing by my car. They said it had been involved in an armed robbery. They opened the boot and someone had stashed a knife and a balaclava in the boot!

“They had this guy standing there in handcuffs then the next thing you know, a motor comes speeding up and this lad in handcuffs jumps in the window and shouts, ‘Telling them nothing, Charlie’ before speeding off!

“I was standing there thinking, ‘I’m going to need a lawyer here!’

“I’ll admit, they had me worried for a second but then they told me it was all a prank.

“The lads in the dressing room had a good laugh about it.

“I didn’t watch Norwegian television, all I could watch was Sky Sports, so I didn’t actually see the clip until I came home to Scotland when it suddenly appeared in all the papers.

“But it was good times over there.

“To be honest, I’d played in Scotland a lot of my time apart from the one year I went to Watford.

“I just thought, let’s try something different and see how it goes. I just wanted a change of scenery that was different from the Scottish game and I enjoyed it.

“We had a great two and a half years in Norway and the fans loved me.

“They were amazing and I met some great boys. Robbie Winters had moved over there before me so having him to hang around with made it a bit easier.

“We won the cup in my first season and the year I left, they won the league. They were a decent side then and they still are now.”

Rohl will take charge of his new side for the first time in tomorrow evening’s Europa League clash as he attempts to kick-start the club’s faltering campaign.

Gers lost to Belgians Genk and Austrian side Sturm Graz under Russell Martin but now it’s former Sheffield Wednesday gaffer Rohl who has been asked to pick up their pieces.

But Miller warned the German he’ll be under pressure to deliver results fast.

He said: “It will be a hard game for Rangers, I know that. The last game Brann played in the Europa, they beat Utrecht so they are definitely no mugs.

Danny Rohl

“They are sitting third in the Norwegian league so I’m not sure the new manager would have wanted this match for his first game.

“Obviously, he’s only arrived this week and has had just one training session with the team.

“We will just have to see what happens. I don’t know if he has a magic wand to make things right but he needs to hit the ground running.

The fans are clearly furious with the way the season has gone but I think everybody just has to give Danny a chance.

“Not everybody wanted Russell Martin and you could see even after the first couple of games, it just wasn’t going to work.

“Now Rohl has come in and the fans have to support him.

“But Rohl will know he needs to get results fast. We need to start winning games.”
