After a turbulent season in 2024/25, Manchester United players had plenty of time off over the summer.
The previous campaign ended in disappointment for Manchester United as Ruben Amorim endured a difficult first six months as head coach.
Amorim has been backed to turn things around at Old Trafford, with Ineos pledging to strengthen the squad after adding Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to the squad ahead of the new season.
Ineos will hope that last year’s signings continue to kick on and grow into their roles as United first-team members.
That applies to players like Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee and others who are trying to command a place in Amorim’s team.
United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham in May. That means big improvements are expected when the 2025/26 campaign begins.

Footballers in the modern game tend to remain dedicated athletes in the summer to keep up with the growing demands on players.
It’s often the case that professionals continue their own training regimes whilst on off-season, and that was the case for several United players this summer.
That bodes well for the season ahead because it means our players will be best prepared.
In an interview with MUTV, Yoro revealed he has been working hard over the summer with team-mate Kobbie Mainoo, who will be trying to gain a role in Amorim’s midfield.
He said the first session of the US tour was “tough” but seemed happy to be back amongst all of his United team-mates.
Yoro also claimed that his hard work with Mainoo over the summer has paid dividends.
“Of course, when you have holidays, you need to chill and rest, but still continue to work. That’s what me and Kobbie were doing.
“When you work with your friends it’s better, more energy, you enjoy more. We work together.”
When are United in action again?
The Red Devils have already got their pre-season underway with a scoreless draw against Leeds in Stockholm, Sweden.
Amorim’s side have now travelled to the United States for the Summer Series tour where they will face three Premier League opponents.
The first game is on Saturday at midnight when United take on West Ham in New Jersey.
