Salford Red Devils could be set to lose yet another player after they’ve been spotted training with a rival club.
It’s been an absolute nightmarish year for Salford with the club’s troubles starting around this time in 2024 when they had to request an advance on their central funding from the RFL, creating alarm bells around the club’s financial state.
Ordered to cut their budget, the club failed to act but then seemed to be saved when new owners came in but unfortunately for the Red Devils, the promised investment never followed.
As such, the 2025 campaign was one of survival with players leaving every other week as the club desperately tried to complete the season and upon doing so, they’ve been relegated and are now days away from a HMRC hearing.
Head coach Paul Rowley has now left and the club currently have just five senior players contracted for 2026 or beyond, though one of those has now been pictured training with another club.
Salford Red Devils man pictured training with former club
Sam Davis signed for Salford Red Devils ahead of the 2025 season with the hooker having impressed during London Broncos’ 2024 campaign in Super League.
An injury limited his game time with Davis only making his first appearance for the Red Devils in April, before a reoccurence ruled him out until August as he played a total of nine games for Salford.
Despite being contracted for 2026, it would appear Davis is on the way out of the club as he’s been pictured training with former club London Broncos.
The Broncos have actually been training with Australia as the Kangaroos prepare for the first Ashes Test on Saturday at Wembley.
Sharing images of that session to their Instagram, Davis is clearly pictured adorned in the club’s new-look training kit with the Broncos having signed a sportswear deal with Reebok after launching a rebrand.
It certainly doesn’t mean that Davis has signed with London but given the huge uncertainty at Salford, who will be playing in the Championship alongside the Broncos subject to their survival, it seems likely he could be another to exit the Red Devils.
