Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi was the star of the show as Australia got to grips with Wembley Stadium today.
Kevin Walters’ side were at the national stadium for a captain’s run and spent time training on the field and getting used to their surroundings ahead of Saturday’s first Test with England.
It’s standard procedure for a clash of this magnitude and media from both side’s of the world were in attendance to catch a glimpse of the Kangaroos.
Having those preparations gate-crashed by one of the most famous musicians on the planet certainly is not usual, though. But, that’s exactly what happened on Friday as Bon Jovi, at Wembley for some promotional work before his upcoming tour, stepped onto the sidelines to meet the team.
Bon Jovi spent time with the players and posed for pictures before showing off his sporting skills by catching a ball, much to the delight of the Kangaroos.
“I have watched it on television, yeah,” he told reporters as he made his way back down the Wembley tunnel. “These guys are tough sons of b*****s, it’s football without helmets.”
Australia have been in England for over a week now, acclimatising and adapting to the weather and time zone ahead of the series. They’ve spent the first week of their tour based in London, training in Twickenham and completing some promotional work of their own across the capital.
They’ve also taken on the France national side in an opposed training session during that time.
They’ll head up to Liverpool and base themselves there next week ahead of the second Test at Everton’s newly built Hill Dickinson Stadium before heading over to Yorkshire the week after ahead of the third Test at Headingley.
