Alice Davidson-Richards led Surrey to a thrilling victory over Hampshire in Guildford.

After Hampshire made 278 in their 50 overs, rain delays saw Surrey’s target eventually revised to 214 in 31 overs.

When Danni Wyatt-Hodge went for 32 to leave Surrey 170-6 and still needing 44 off 20 balls, Hampshire seemed poised for victory.

But Davidson-Richards (72 not out) and Alice Monaghan (15 not out) took Surrey home with two balls to spare to move them up to fourth in the table.

Durham are a point behind Surrey in fifth thanks to an 89-run victory over third-placed Lancashire.

A brilliant 111 from captain Hollie Armitage helped Durham to 257 all out at Chester-le-Street.

Lancashire were never in the chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals and collapsed to 168 all out in the 39th over – Kate Cross top scoring with 34.

Somerset had piled up 312-6 against bottom side Essex when the rain arrived after 49.2 overs of their innings, taking the players from the field.

It failed to relent and the game was called off just before 16:00 BST.
