Former Hollyoaks star Jeremy Edwards has shared his disappointment over not being included in Hollyoaks’ 30th anniversary celebrations. The soap aired a special Brookside crossover episode as well as featuring cameos from former Brookside and Hollyoaks stars – but Jeremy was not one of them.
Jeremy was a Hollyoaks original and played Kurt Benson between 1995 and 1999. He returned for brief stints in 2013 and 2020, but was not invited back for the big 3 0 celebrations last week.
Taking to TikTok, Jeremy said: “Bittersweet day for me today.

“Today, 30 years ago, Hollyoaks launched its first episode, with me bursting onto the screen on a motorbike and a leather jacket.
“Unfortunately I haven’t been invited or included in any of the 30th anniversary celebrations, which does upset me, I’m not going to lie to you.”

He added: “Still, I wish everyone the best. It was a great show and I was very proud to be part of it.”
Kurt was actually killed off in Hollyoaks in 1999 following a jet-ski accident. In 2013 he returned as an angel figure after Tony Hutchinson had visions of him. He then returned for a longer stint in 2020 where he revealed he’d been alive all along.
This stint also saw Kurt date Tony’s sister Verity and con his friends into investing in a fake diet business. He fled the village after leaving Mandy Richardson and Darren Osborne bankrupt from the scam.
There may have been no Kurt in the Hollyoaks anniversary episodes, but we were treated to cameos from other iconic characters.

Fellow 90s characters Carol and Finn (played by Natalie Casey and James Redmond) popped up at Tony’s stag do – along with Jambo’s bug car Beryl! Tony’s brother Dom (played by his real life brother John Pickard) also made an appearance.
While the 30th anniversary week started on a lighter note, it soon descended into chaos – with a shooting, a plane crash and three major characters killed off.
Serial killer Jez Blake was sliced up by the plane’s propeller, while Grace Black died of gunshot injuries. The saddest death was that of Peri Lomax, who became trapped by fallen debris. She passed away with her mum Leela, uncle Ste and partner Tom Cuningham at her side.
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streamingpremiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
