In a rather disturbing window into my fast approaching future, I would say that at least once a day find myself standing in a room wondering why the hell I am there. In contrast, I could name you Ipswich Town’s starting line-up from 1981, the actors’ names from the first episode of Neighbours and everything that happened on November 2, 1982.
It was a momentous day in TV history as it heralded the arrival of the nation’s fourth terrestrial channel, the snappily titled Channel Four, at a time when the only terrestrial we knew was a wee alien chap on a bike.
