Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) is never one to live a quiet life in Emmerdale. In 2024, she was brought to the village by PC Swirling (Andy Moore), who explained to a horrified Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) that her mum had been arrested on the cruise ship she was working on.
This year, Kerry has been adapting to life following the traumatic death of Amy. She was one of the three women who died during the limo crash disaster in February.
Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) died as the vehicle crashed, while Amy and Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) both passed away in hospital.
The limo crash happened as a result of Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) swerving to avoid hitting Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), who was stumbling down the road.
And this was only happening because a few hours prior, Noah had been drugged by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) in his attempt to find a blood match for his kidney donation.
Noah and Joe didn’t share the same blood group, so Joe and Doctor Crowley (James Hillier) dumped him in the middle of nowhere.

Jai takes pleasure in firing Kerry (Picture: ITV)
If this didn’t happen, the limo crash wouldn’t have occurred and therefore, Leyla, Amy and Suzy would still be alive.
In future episodes, a chaotic Kerry arrives late to work at the depot. She then gets a call from Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano), who has news about Amy’s death. She asks Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) to cover and at the shop, Kerry, Matty and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) read the coroner’s report on the crash.
The news leaves Jacob and Matty heartbroken, so Kerry focuses on cheering them up and ignores calls from Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson).
Jai eventually walks in and, not understanding the emotional context, fires her on the spot.

Caleb makes Jai rehire Kerry (Picture: ITV)
The next day, Caleb Miligan (William Ash) is outraged to learn that Jai fired Kerry and demands that he rehire her. Humiliated, Jai is forced to formally apologise to Kerry and she cannot help but gloat over her victory.
After a few snide comments from Jai, Kerry realises that he’s going to make her work life a living hell. Not wanting to deal with him, Kerry quits her role.
Just as she tries to leave though, Kerry accidentally pulls the handle off the door and traps them both inside.
How will this play out?
