St Edmunds Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, officially opened the upgraded space on Friday, October 17, with the town’s MP Dr Peter Prinsley leading the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Dr Prinsley said: “I was delighted to open the newly refurbished reception area at St Edmunds Hospital and to see first-hand the investment being made to improve patient care and experience here in Bury St Edmunds.

“This modernisation reflects the dedication of staff and management to providing first-class care in an environment that feels welcoming, accessible, and supportive to all who walk through the door.”

The refurbishment focused on upgrading the reception and patient waiting areas, creating a brighter and more comfortable environment. The project included modernised interiors, improved accessibility, and sustainable lighting, and was delivered with the support of local contractors.

Part of the Circle Health Group, St Edmunds Hospital is a 27-bed private facility which, over the past year, has treated more than 3,400 patients and performed over 2,400 operations.

During his visit, Dr Prinsley toured the hospital with Peter Lord, executive director of St Edmunds Hospital, and met with staff to discuss ongoing work and future plans.

A roundtable discussion also took place to address Dr Prinsley’s healthcare priorities for the constituency and the hospital’s role in supporting the NHS and wider community.

Mr Lord said: “It was a privilege to welcome Dr Prinsley to St Edmunds Hospital and to have him formally open our new reception area.

We are committed to continuing to invest in our facilities and services to meet the needs of patients across Suffolk.

We are proud of the work we do to support our colleagues in all parts of the healthcare system.”
