A major DC update has sparked fresh buzz following new reports from insiders. The latest rumor suggests that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will undergo new reshoots, marking a key development in James Gunn’s expanding DC Universe slate.

Supergirl movie rumored to be adding scenes with Superman in reshoots

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, DC Studios’ Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is currently undergoing two weeks of reshoots, believed to include new scenes featuring David Corenswet’s Superman. The film completed principal photography in May. Additional photography began this week. Richtman said the reshoots may expand the connection between Kara Zor-El and Clark Kent in the new DC Universe.

This development follows reports that the Superman costume displayed at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour was recently removed with a note reading, “Superman costume currently being used by production.” Some speculated the suit was for Superman: Man of Tomorrow, but the film is still in early development. A Hollywood Reporter update said Supergirl held a private Burbank screening for executives and Gunn’s DC team.

Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El, following her debut appearance in the final moments of Superman. The cast includes Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura, and Jason Momoa as Lobo. Writer Ana Nogueira described her version of Supergirl as “rougher and grittier and edgier and funnier.” She explained that this take focuses on Kara’s trauma after witnessing Krypton’s destruction.

James Gunn previously explained, “In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock and watched everyone around her die.”

Warner Bros. will release Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow on June 26, 2026.
