England lost the first Test of the Ashes handily and that’s seen rugby league fans call for some major changes in Shaun Wane’s side.

It was the first rugby league Ashes Test in 22 years and it went as per the recent history suggested it would, with Australia being far too good for England.

They’d win 26-6 with the hosts six points coming late on as a consolation after full-back Reece Walsh had already broken hearts with his two-try Man of the Match display.

For England, several players stood out including Jez Litten who came off the bench and played hooker. NRL duo Dom Young and Herbie Farnworth were also very strong as well.

Others struggled more so with full-back Jack Welsby finding it hard to make metres and influence the attack, whilst Ethan Havard was limited to just one 20-minute stint.

Shaun Wane has confirmed he will consider all options in regards to making changes for the second Test and that’s something that will please English rugby league fans, who were very vocal after the defeat at Wembley.

What changes do England rugby league fans want to see?

Serious About Rugby League asked fans: “Should Shaun Wane make any changes for the second Ashes Test?”

That question drew over 650 comments and we’ve picked some of the more common responses with English rugby league fans urging changes, although they don’t necessarily agree on which ones.

Sheila Clark: Definitely Lewis and Welsby. Bring in Smith and Burgess.

Darren Hamilton-Stretton: Bateman and Welsby out for starters.

Mark Mairs: Williams, Bateman, Welsby and Havard.

Melissa Collins: Williams and Welsby out, Lewis to 6 and bring Smith in.

James Hudson: He picked too many players with ‘credit in the bank’. Williams, Welsby, Bateman, Young have had average seasons. They are talented but why would you assume they would suddenly just be back to their because they pull on an England shirt.

Richard Willers: Certainly need to freshen things up. England were out on their feet by 50 minutes. Also require a couple of lads with a ‘bad attitude’ to rough the Aussies up.

Lee Hamblin: Get some forwards who are interested in giving it to the Aussies.

Anthony Crowther: Got to give Oledzki and Brimson a go.

Jane Fairbank: Absolutely would have Smithies in there.

Ronnie Moore: Put Brimson at 1, Jack in at 6, and Harry at 7.

Adam Pickering: Anyone notice in the last ten minutes that all four of Clark, Litten, Williams and Lewis were all playing? What’s all that about?
