Newcastle United should be paying very close attention to what Anthony Elanga has just said about Elliot Anderson.
The Swedish winger moved from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United this summer, costing Eddie Howe’s side a whopping £55million.
Now the Magpies are looking to take another player from the City Ground, with Geordie Boot Boys recently reporting that Newcastle United want to re-sign Elliot Anderson.
He left St James’ Park during the PSR debacle of 2024, heading to Nottingham Forest for £35million. Anderson has excelled ever since, so much so that he now feels certain to start for England at the 2026 World Cup.
The club know they messed up with the local lad, and would love the chance to rewrite history. It is something he would be open to as well, with reports claiming that Anderson is interested in rejoining Newcastle United.
That will be music to the ears of the Toon recruitment team, and it will also delight Anthony Elanga.

Elanga played with Anderson at Nottingham Forest for just one season, but the Geordie midfielder obviously made quite the impression.
That is because in an interview with the Pro Direct YouTube channel, Elanga picked out Anderson as the most underrated player he has ever played with.
“Fantastic question,” he said.
“Elliot Anderson. He’s a joke.”
Nottingham Forest will be sick of the sight of Newcastle United as Elliot Anderson rumours persist
Ever since he left Newcastle United, Toon fans have pined for Anderson’s return.
It is probably pretty infuriating for Nottingham Forest fans, in the same way that Newcastle supporters were sick of the Liverpool faithful relentlessly going on about Alexander Isak before his £125million move to Anfield.
To make matters worse for Forest, they have already seen Elanga swap their club for Newcastle. Eddie Howe pushed incredibly hard to steal the 23-year-old from the City Ground, getting his wish for the rather lofty price of £55million.
Newcastle and Forest were not finished there though, with Ross Wilson the latest figure to go between the two clubs. He is the new sporting director at St James’ Park, having arrived on Tyneside during the October international break.
Wilson could now be tasked with bringing Anderson back to Newcastle United, which would delight Elanga based on his latest comments. It would also delight Eddie Howe, who speaks incredibly highly of Anderson, and Anthony Gordon, who is close friends with the Whitley Bay lad.
As for Nottingham Forest, if they are not sick of the sight of Newcastle United already, they will be the longer these Anderson rumours persist.
