Made in Chelsea’s Sam Vanderpump opened up on his heath battle
Made In Chelsea star Sam Vanderpump, 28, has revealed he has been diagnosed with irreversible end-stage liver disease following a terrifying battle with sepsis last Christmas.
The nephew of famous Housewives Of Beverley Hills star Lisa Vanderpump opened up on the latest instalment of the reality show, where he said his life expectancy could be less than five years, unless he gets an organ transplant. The news follows the star announcing he is going to become a first time dad with fiancée Alice Yaxley.
Sam opened up on his health battle with friends Ollie Locke and Tabitha Willett on the most recent episode of the E4 show where he said: “There is no hope of my liver getting better and he said I wouldn’t be having this call with you if I thought you could make it through the next four or five years. They’re sending me for liver transplant assessment, so yeah.”

Both Tabitha and Ollie were seen getting emotional as Ollie asked how he was feeling. Sam replied: “The way I look at it is I’m healthy now, hopefully I will remain healthy all the way up until I’ll get a call and go in for surgery and then I wake up and I’ll be healthier”.
Sam said he is unsure when the transplant will happen as there will be other people ‘higher up on the list’. Following the episode, the Instagram account for NHS Organ Donation said they hope the episode will offer ‘inspiration’ to other people.
They wrote: “You may have seen in tonight’s episode of Made in Chelsea, that one of the cast members Sam Vanderpump needs an organ transplant. Our thoughts are with Sam and his family as they face this news. We hope that his courage in speaking out will offer inspiration to others.”

Adding: “Sadly, thousands of people are currently waiting for a life-saving transplant because not enough people agree to donate their organs. If you want to be an organ donor and save lives after your death, please confirm your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register and ensure your loved ones know and support your decision”.
Earlier this year, Sam opened up on his terrifying battle with sepsis and revealed he came close to dying as his liver and kidneys failed. In an exclusive interview with OK!, Sam candidly discussed the terrifying experience, while also sharing an insight into his relationship.

He said: “Over Christmas, we went through a bit of an episode together where I got really, really ill.” Recalling the sudden onset of his illness. He explains that a genetic condition led to an infection, which rapidly escalated into sepsis. “I got an infection due to a genetic disease I’ve got, which led to sepsis and it ended up quite bad. I was in hospital and it was a close call; I could have died.”
The ordeal began with Sam experiencing severe back pain and dehydration, symptoms he initially dismissed as flu-like. However, his condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to delirium. Recognising the severity, Alice acted swiftly. “By calling the ambulance, my fiancé literally saved my life,” Sam acknowledges.
Doctors later informed him that if he had been admitted just 24 hours later, it might have been too late, as his liver and kidneys had begun to fail.
