Fans wanting to catch or rewatch “masterful” British movie Atonement only have a few days left to watch it.
The 2007 drama, which is adapted from the novel by Ian McEwan, stars Keira Knightley and James McAvoy alongside Saoirse Ronan in her breakthrough role.
After being added to BBC iPlayer, the period drama is set to leave the streamer in 12 days – so you’d better get in quick.
Atonement centres on Briony Tallis (Ronan), who aged 13 makes a false accusation towards her sister Cecilia’s (Knightley) lover Robbie Turner (McAvoy) that has devastating lifelong consequences. We then follow the story through different time periods, including World War II.
The movie drew huge acclaim, sitting at 83% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with Arizona Republic calling it a “masterful study of both the hurtful and redemptive effects of imagination”.

New York Magazine labelled it “absorbing and evocative”, while The Times suggested it was “the kind of film that comes along all too rarely”.
Ronan landed her first Oscar nomination for her performance as Briony, and has since gone on to score a further three nods over the years, while the movie itself was nominated for seven Academy Awards (winning for Best Original Score). It also took home the BAFTA for Best Film.

Directed by Joe Wright, the movie also stars Vigil‘s Romola Garai, Coriolanus’ Vanessa Redgrave, Vera‘s Brenda Blethyn, Ted Lasso‘s Juno Temple, Succession‘s Harriet Walter and Benedict Cumberbatch in an early role.
Ronan most-recently appeared in movies The Outrun and Blitz, while Knightley was seen last year in Netflix series Black Doves.
Atonement is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
