Hull KR have confirmed the unexpected exit of assistant coach Danny Ward.
Ward, who served as the club’s defence coach, has left Rovers to take up a new role within the sport.
A former Super League champion, Ward is set to return to London Broncos, joining the coaching staff under newly-appointed head coach, Jason Demetriou. Ward’s family remain in the capital following his previous tenure there as head coach.
“What a club,” said Ward on his departure. “It’s a special group of people at Hull KR and add that to the success we’ve had this year. It’s been an unbelievable two years for me.
“Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. I’ve decided to move back down to London to be closer to my family. My daughter and wife have been down there for the last two years and they sacrificed a lot for me to go and achieve the things I have at Hull KR. Now it’s time to go back and be closer to them.”
“It was a really tough choice, because it’s been amazing. I’ve loved every second of being back at Hull KR with the staff, players and the fans. Now it’s time for a different challenge.”
Head coach Willie Peters added: “Danny played a key role in helping us achieve a treble this year and making a Grand Final last year. He’s a quality person and he did a great job as our defence coach.
“Thank you to Danny for his contribution at Hull KR and wish him and his family all the best. Wardy will always be a friend of the club.”
