Michael Klinger has joined Welsh Fire in a dual role that will see him become head coach of the women’s team for 2026, as well as helping with recruitment for both the franchise’s teams.
The 45-year-old Australian joins on a two-year deal, having been head coach of Manchester Originals Women during the 2025 season.
He will also retain his role of director of cricket at Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket (MLC).
Gareth Breese led Welsh Fire Women in their most recent campaign and he will stay on as an assistant coach under Klinger, while Mike Hussey will continue in his role as men’s head coach for next season.
