Elon Musk’s Starlink struck its first UK telecom deal to bring satellite connectivity directly to customers’ phones.
Customers for mobile and broadband provider Virgin Media O2 will be able to pay an unspecified amount for an extra satellite service called “O2 Satellite” that provides basic messaging services while they are in hard-to-reach areas around the UK. The service will start some time in the first half of next year.
