We reckon Halo Studios’ strategy for the future of Master Chief is beginning to emerge.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming to the PS5 next year, but the developer has already said the future of the franchise is on PlayStation.
So, what’s next, after its Halo: Combat Evolved remake?
Well, fan account Halo Leaks – which was one of many to accurately out the existence of Campaign Evolved – says remakes of both the Halo 2 and Halo 3 stories are also in the works.
It says these will be “full remakes”, with revised gameplay like sprint.
“No ETA on when these could be announced,” the account writes on X (or Twitter). “[The] same source that told me about the remake and its mechanics also told me Halo 2 and 3 were being remade too.”
Later on in the replies, Halo Leaks goes on to elaborate that a Halo 7 is also in development, and this one will have competitive multiplayer.
Halo 2 & Halo 3 are being remade, yes they will have sprint. No multiplayer, only campaign. Full remakes.

Thus, it sounds to us like the plan is to bring remakes of the original trilogy to the PS5, and then also accompany them with a brand-new game, featuring PvP.
“Halo Studios wants everyone to play Halo 7’s multiplayer, they don’t want to create separate multiplayer experiences competing with each other,” the snoop adds.
It all sounds fairly logical to us, although we could see the multiplayer potentially releasing as a standalone free-to-play live service to be honest, as it does make sense for that to be as accessible as possible.
Obviously, we’re potentially talking about a decade or more of plans here, so the details could easily change – if they’re even accurate to begin with.
But it does seem like a solid roadmap for Halo Studios to follow as it seeks to get the series back on track.
