Paul Merson has now singled out two standout Manchester United performers in his Premier League prediction for the Nottingham Forest match on Saturday afternoon.

Ruben Amorim could make it four Premier League wins from four matches if the Red Devils are able to pick up all three points at City Ground this weekend.

Manchester United have been enjoying a rich vein of form in recent weeks and the Red Devils finally look like they are ticking under the tactics of Ruben Amorim.

Amorim’s men are one point outside of the top four and sixth-place United are a point clear of defending Premier League champions – and arch-rivals – Liverpool.

The Red Devils picked up their third consecutive win of the 2025-26 Premier League season last Saturday after United’s 4-2 performance over Brighton at Old Trafford.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have had a transformative impact for Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim after their summer arrivals.

The Red Devils landed Matheus Cunha from Wolves in June before United’s long-drawn-out pursuit for Bryan Mbeumo ended with his signing from Brentford in July.

Speaking in his Sportskeeda column, Paul Merson has now suggested that the Cunha and Mbeumo partnership could emulate the success of Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole.

“Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha look good,” he said.

“Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole used to be an unbelievable partnership and these two could become a success like that duo at Manchester United.

“Mbeumo and Cunha will always create problems for opponents; it’s just that they have to do it consistently.

“The teams they played for last season, Brentford and Wolves, they weren’t the most consistent sides.

“So Mbeumo and Cunha haven’t had that pressure of playing well every single weekend.”

Merson did warn that ex-Brentford ace Mbeumo and former Wolves star Cunha won’t be able to escape the limelight at United if they start underperforming.

“But now they’re at United and more is expected,” he continued.

“If Brentford or Wolves lose to Nottingham Forest, no-one bats an eyelid.

“But if it’s Manchester United and they end up losing, the headlines just write on their own.

“That is what Mbeumo and Cunha have to deal with now.”

Man Utd vs Nottingham Forest prediction is now made and Paul Merson’s stance is clear on the Premier League outcome

Nottingham Forest have endured a woeful run of form in the 2025-26 Premier League season and the club have lost all four of their last four league matches.

Sean Dyche was appointed head coach last week after Ange Postecoglou was sacked and Sky Sports pundit Merson is unsure about United’s chances of winning again.

“I would only rate Manchester United’s chances of finishing in the top five after this game,” Merson said.

Merson added: “Form and consistency are two different things. If they beat Forest, you would have to think they are contenders for a top-five finish.

“But I doubt they can get three points in this game.”

Merson has predicted that Saturday’s Premier League clash at City Ground will end in a 1-1 draw between 18th-place Forest and Amorim’s Red Devils side.
