Putting aside the fact that this is a much-loved, much-used area for many people, the proposed facility is a classic case of trying to fit a quart into a pint pot and then desperately trying to justify it.
I can only think that none of the councilor’s who voted for this have any interest in sport of any type, because if they did, they would realise that this is a ridiculous proposal.
Who builds a six-hole golf course?
It’s the equivalent of building an athletic track of only 268mts in circumference or a football pitch that’s only two-thirds the size of what it should be. It’s nonsensical.
If they have talked to the many groups who use this field then they haven’t listened to what has been said.
It’s used every week by hundreds of children who are members of the athletic club, the disc golf group and many other sporting people who use it for training, plus, of course, the many dog walkers and people who just walk there for pleasure.
The fact that there was a petition with over 6,000 signatures from people against the proposal, that cross-party councilors joined forces to try and stop this shows the depth of feeling.Â
The people who voted for this should bow their heads in shame.Â
One even admitted having signed the petition numerous times using the names of Disney characters then used this to try and belittle the campaign, whereas all this did was highlight the arrogance of those who feel that they know better than us and are pushing this through in the name of progress and doings the right thing for the town!
These people are supposed to represent us, the people who voted for them. I for one will not be voting for them again.Â
People will hopefully take note of those who voted for this ridiculous scheme and do the same as me!

Robert Froud
