Diogo Dalot was a major talking point for Manchester United fans after what he did against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League clash at City Ground.

Manchester United travelled away for their latest Premier League outing and the in-form Red Devils have been riding a wave of momentum under Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim, who celebrated his first anniversary as United manager on Saturday, had overseen three consecutive wins ahead of the clash with Nottingham Forest.

Ahead of the visit to City Ground, the Red Devils were last in action at Old Trafford and United defeated Brighton 4-2 in the Premier League clash last Saturday.

United’s result over Brighton in October came on the back of the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield and Amorim’s men beating Sunderland 2-0 at Old Trafford.

Forest, on the other hand, had lost their last four Premier League matches ahead of Sean Dyche’s side hosting United at City Ground on Saturday afternoon.

Diogo Dalot continued to play as an inverted full-back in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system before the Manchester United defender was hooked off in the second half.

Patrick Dorgu replaced Dalot in the 61st minute, but United fans on X, formerly Twitter, were furious with the Portugal star’s defending against Nottingham Forest.

One United fan said: “Dalot costs us over and over and over again. Why does Amorim keep playing him?”

“This team CANNOT [sic] keep carrying Diogo Dalot any longer. He’s got to be dropped,” someone else added.

While a third X user tweeted: “Since no-one wants to say it, Diogo Dalot is a hindrance to this system and to make matters worse, we don’t have a better option to replace him!”

And a fourth suggested: “Been far too many mistakes from Diogo Dalot this season, awful start to the second half.”

“He shouldn’t be playing Dalot. He’s let us down more than he’s done anything positive for us,” another wrote.

Somebody else posted: “What’s the point of having Dalot as [a] LWB when he’s consistently forced on the outside and to attempt a cross with his weaker foot? Just play [Luke] Shaw there, please.”

A seventh claimed: “Dalot can’t be starting ahead of [Noussair] Mazraoui…”

“Just look at Dalot for both goals, always loses concentration,” an eighth commented.

What happened in Man Utd vs Nottingham Forest in the Premier League match at City Ground?

United broke the deadlock in a cagey first-half encounter at City Ground after Casemiro fired a superb header into the back of the Forest net in the 34th minute.

Casemiro was the difference-maker between the two sides and Forest were left trailing United going into the half-time break in Saturday afternoon’s clash.

But Forest rallied back early in the second half after Morgan Gibbs-White was picked out from a cross and the attacking midfielder headed home in the 48th minute.

Sean Dyche’s men built on the momentum of Morgan Gibbs-White’s equaliser and Forest took the lead over United only two minutes later thanks to Nicolo Savona.

United eventually rallied back from the setback against Forest after Amad Diallo netted a stunning long-range volley in the 81st minute to pull the scores level.
