The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a strong ultimatum to Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, demanding the immediate handover of the Asia Cup 2025 trophy and medals that remain in ACC’s possession over a month after India’s triumph in the final.
BCCI joint-secretary Devajit Saikia said the board had already written to Naqvi about 10 days ago but received no satisfactory response. He warned that if the trophy is not delivered to Mumbai within two days, the matter will be escalated further.

“We are fully prepared on how to deal with the matter,” Saikia told PTI. “I can assure the people of India that the trophy will now come back to India; only the timeline is not fixed.”
Saikia added that BCCI expects the trophy to arrive “in Mumbai in two days” and hinted that the issue could reach the International Cricket Council (ICC) if the ACC fails to act.
The standoff stems from the Asia Cup final on September 28 in Dubai, when India defeated Pakistan by five wickets. However, the Indian side refused to receive the trophy from Naqvi, who is also the president of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan’s interior minister.
Naqvi also stood his ground, leaving the presentation ceremony without handing over the winner’s medals and the trophy to India. Since then, he has told the media multiple times that if India wants the trophy, they will have to receive it from his hands.
The BCCI official described the situation as “frustrating” and said the board would take necessary steps to ensure the trophy’s return if the ACC continued to delay.
“We have won all matches against Pakistan and won the trophy. Only the trophy is missing,” Saikia said, adding, “I hope good sense will prevail.”
