Newcastle United are looking to secure back-to-back wins in the Premier League when they take on West Ham.
Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall is set to be put through a late fitness test.
Eddie Howe is dealing with a number of injury concerns, while summer signing Yoane Wissa remains unavailable ahead of Newcastle United‘s clash at West Ham this afternoon. However, there is hope regarding Lewis Hall.
One confirmed absence is Wissa, who is currently battling a knee injury. As a result, his Newcastle debut, following a summer move from Brentford, will be delayed. Meanwhile, other players, for both sides, are likely to undergo late fitness tests to determine their availability.
Hall is among them – with Howe revealing in his pre-match press conference that there was hope he would train with the squad on Friday. “He’s very close. He’s hopefully training with us today for the first time,” Howe said.
“He’s worked really hard and in good shape, but we will have to see how he does when he’s back with the group.”
William Osula is also a doubt as he continues to nurse a knock and may undergo a late fitness test.
“We’re still managing Will Osula’s ankle and we’ll see how he is today [Friday],” Howe added. Elsewhere, Harrison Ashby (thigh) and Tino Livramento (knee) will remain side-lined.
“Tino is still on track, and we are looking at the Manchester City game (November 22) for him for when he can be available,” Howe revealed before issuing an update on Ashby.
“Unfortunately, at the moment Harrison is injured, and he has been injured for a period of time with a thigh injury, so we are waiting for him to be fit again.”
As for the hosts, manager Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed Dinos Mavropanos, Ollie Scarles and Niclas Fullkrug will all miss the meeting with the Magpies.
“Dinos has started his fitness programme now and had his first session on the grass, so I expect a couple of weeks more for him to be totally available,” the newly-appointed Portuguese head coach explained.
“Oliver Scarles, of course, went to surgery yesterday (Thursday) – and it went well. He’s going to be out for a while. He’s not totally stopped as he can do some type of conditioning [work].
“Niclas Fullkrug is out and I’m still not totally sure when he will be available. He started on the grass, but not totally with the group, so we expect that it’s going to be fast.”
