Brendan Rodgers may not be out of work for long after a Premier League club opted to sack their manager.

Rodgers resigned from his position as Celtic manager earlier in the week following a spate of bad performances.

The Northern Irishman was left frustrated by the club’s transfer activity in the summer, and had been holding off agreeing to a new contract, which was due to expire in the summer.

Dermot Desmond tore into Rodgers in a damning statement after his departure, but now the 52-year-old could soon find himself back in management.

Multiple reports have confirmed that Premier League basement boys Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked Vitor Pereira.

Wolves are yet to win a league game this season and were beaten 3-0 by Fulham to leave them in 20th position.

Pereira had only signed a new long-term deal a few weeks before, but his position was deemed untenable after a poor run of form.
