Tom Daley confesses he would like to see a major shake-up to Celebrity Traitors after being left “annoyed” by a snub on the programme. The 31-year-old Olympic champion was amongst the famous faces to participate in this year’s celebrity version of the popular murder-mystery series.

However, Tom was “murdered” in the early stages by the Traitors in an attempt to pile pressure on Kate Garraway. Tom reckons the Traitors – Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, and Cat Burns – were keen to knock out people who would have “figured it out”.

The diving ace acknowledges he was initially frustrated at being a Faithful, confessing that he enjoys being “in control” as a professional sportsman. Speaking to the Guardian, Tom said: “It’s really intense.

“When I wasn’t a traitor, I was annoyed. You can think, ‘Just play the game and have fun and see where we get.’ But as an athlete, I like to be in control.”

Alongside the programme’s infamous round tables – where participants debate about who should be banished – Tom reveals he was eager to participate in the challenges. He acknowledges that whilst viewers might think they “don’t really need to see” them, it’s completely different when you’re taking part, reports Wales Online.

He was thrilled about “jumping out of helicopters” and attempting to boost the prize fund for charity. Rather than that, Tom finds himself watching from home as his fellow participants tackle the obstacles put before them.

This prompted the Olympic champion to call for a significant overhaul of the programme’s structure.

He continued: “I think what they should have considered is a resurrection. Bringing someone back from the dead after, like, the first four murders.”

Tom confesses he actually suggested this concept to the show’s producers, but they ultimately rejected it. The latest series of Celebrity Traitors witnessed the Faithful eliminating Kate. This followed their earlier exposure of chat show presenter Jonathan Ross as one of the Traitors.

The 64-year-old delivered a memorable farewell address after being voted out by the group. He declared: “I’ve got no idea what everyone’s doing wrong. I cannot believe you’ve done it again. I cannot believe that I’m standing here for no good reason, so I don’t want to be rude, but you’re idiots.

“I am now, and I have been all through the game completely Faithful…” he stated, prompting horrified expressions from fellow contestants, before finishing his remarks: “…to the Traitors.”

Beyond Celebrity Traitors, Tom returns to television this week with Game of Wool: Britain’s Best Knitter on Channel 4.

Broadcasting from 8pm tonight, the programme features 10 amateur participants vying to be declared Britain’s finest knitter.

This week the competitors will attempt to reimagine the traditional Fair Isle design on a tank top before collaborating to create a life-sized sofa.
