Championship club Doncaster have signed former Featherstone Rovers hooker Connor Jones ahead of the 2026 Championship season.

Jones joins the South Yorkshire club on a two-year deal after a lengthy spell with Featherstone in the second tier. He becomes the Dons’ third signing for next season following former Castleford Tigers prop Muizz Mustapha and ex-Sheffield Eagles man Cory Aston through the door at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Jones is Australian and started his career in the Queensland Cup with Northern Pride before making the move over to Post Office Road in 2019. He made the move to Salford Red Devils in 2020 where he made seven appearances, but he returned to Featherstone the year after and he has racked up 152 outings for the club.

In that time the hooker touched down on 86 occasions, with Jones scoring more than 20 tries a season on two separate occasions.

He represents a big loss for Featherstone, but he’ll be keen to take that form to his new club, with Doncaster having ambitions to push up the league ladder after being overlooked for a spot in next year’s Super League.

“I’m really excited,” Jones said. “Meeting with Carl [Hall, CEO] and Rich [Horne, head coach] and listening to the plans they’ve got for Doncaster really excited me.

“While I’ve loved my time at Featherstone over the last five or six years and I hope they get sorted, locking in a couple of years and a bit of security is pleasing for me.

“I’ve always enjoyed coming and playing at Doncaster so I’m really excited to join up with the boys and see how we go next year.”

Head coach Horne added: “We were never going to turn down the opportunity to bring in a player of Connor’s calibre.

“He’s another quality player to add to the group with plenty of experience of what it takes to be successful at this level.

“This is a really good signing for us.”
