However, the Russian withdrew from the contest due to VISA issues last month.

Azim‘s handlers spent weeks searching for a new opponent, and they have now agreed terms with Kurt Scoby (18-1) of the United States.

The heavy-handed Scoby has finished 16 of his 18 wins inside the distance.

His sole defeat came at the hands of the unheralded Dakota Linger in April 2024.

Since then, he has won five straight fights, all by way of stoppage.

Scoby had been in camp to box Argentine journeyman Cristian Ruben Mino (24-10-2) on November 8, but he now faces a much sterner test.

Adam Azim’s recent form

Azim (13-0) is one of Britain’s brightest prospects and formerly held the European super lightweight title.

The Slough technician blasted away former IBF super lightweight champion Sergey Lipinets in his last outing, but has struggled to secure another step-up fight.

He had been targeting two-time 140lbs world champion Regis Prograis as his next opponent.

However, the American poured cold water on the fight, insisting he has no desire to become a gatekeeper for young up-and-comers.

Prograis told Ring Magazine: “Some people hit me up on Instagram about [the Azim fight], but I was like ‘nah, I’m not doing that’.

“I don’t want to go back to the UK right now, man.

“I feel like, maybe I’d come back out there for a big fight, but that won’t be a big fight.

“It’s just not something I’m interested in right now.

“I’m not doing that. If I go the ‘opponent’ route, then I’ll just quit boxing. I’m not going to do it.

“I know what boxing is and what it’s like, so if I ever feel like I’m being treated to be an opponent, I’m just not going to do it no more.

“I’m not going to be someone’s opponent, no way I’m doing that.”

Azim is currently ranked No.10 by the IBF and No.9 by the WBC.

He will be hoping 2026 is the year that he finally gets his hands on a major world title.
