Israeli pre-Seed VC and platform, Fusion, announced the promotion of Amit Shechter to Principal. Shechter joined the firm in late 2022 as an intern and has since advanced through several roles before his recent promotion.
Over the past three years, he has led investment processes in more than 30 Israeli startups and sourced approximately 20% of all investments completed by the fund during that period. Among the companies he led or sourced are Quack, Newlight, and SingIt and more, who have collectively raised more than $50 million and now generate millions in annual revenues.
During his military service, Shechter served in the Israeli Navy’s Submarine Unit (Shayetet 7), one of the IDF’s elite forces. Alongside his work at Fusion, he co-founded the “28 Community”, a private, nonprofit network of elite combat-unit veterans in Israel’s tech ecosystem. Members of the community have collectively raised tens of millions of dollars, with several achieving successful exits. Shechter holds a double major in Computer Science and Entrepreneurship from the International Program at Reichman University, where he appeared on the Dean’s List.
The promotion comes as Fusion completes over 80 investments from its $20 million first fund (Fusion I) and starts raising its second fund (Fusion II). Fusion has been the first investor in several of Israel’s most successful startups, including Innplay Labs (acquired by Playtika for $300M), DigitalOwl (acquired for $200M in September 2025), and many other promising companies such as Agora, Base, Hoopo, and Acsense. Other fast-growing portfolio companies include Obol, Quack AI, Samplead, NewLight, SingIt, FeminAI, Pickommerce, and NoBarrier.
“Since founding Fusion, we’ve always aimed to do things differently. Not just in our investment thesis or value creation model, but also in how we grow as a team,” said Yair Vardi, Founding Partner at Fusion VC. “We’re thrilled to see Amit’s continued growth within Fusion; starting as an intern, then moving to Analyst, later Associate, and now Principal.”
Guy Katsovich, Founding Partner at Fusion VC, adds: “Amit joined us as an intern during his studies and proved that even without prior experience or a background in venture, with perseverance, hard work, a constant pursuit of excellence, and humility — it’s possible to start from scratch, learn, and truly excel. For us, that’s the DNA of Fusion, and Amit represents it in a phenomenal way. We’re very happy about his promotion and this well-deserved recognition.”
Shechter: “The problem is not a lack of new Israeli startups; it’s access to initial capital for non-obvious teams and sectors. I’m proud to take part in bridging that gap by backing Israeli founders across all industries who aspire to solve meaningful problems and create real impact. I look forward to continuing to lead our investment activity and platform at Israel’s most active pre-seed fund, providing first checks to 25-30 new startups each year.”
