There’s some huge moments on Coronation Street next week according to new spoilers for the ITV soap.

A huge and worrying new storyline unfolds for the Platts, as pregnant Shona Platt learns some earth-shattering news. As the day of her baby scan arrives, David Platt is nowhere to be seen for their child’s scan.

That’s because he’s wound up his sister Sarah Platt and her new man Kit Green, after their past drama over Shona’s fling. On this occasion, Kit seethes and ends up arresting David for assaulting a police officer when he shoves past him.

David begs to be let go to get to the scan, and Kit takes him to the hospital. When they finally sit down for the scan, David and Shona are alarmed when the sonographer point out a mass on their baby’s neck.

The next episode that follows focuses on the couple as they navigate a horrifying update about their unborn child. In what has been described as a “unique, heart-wrenching episode”, we see the couple set off to see the consultant to find out more about the mass found during the scan.

Initially we see things from Shona’s point of view, with her emotional as she questions how David is so calm. It reaches a point where she lashes out and asks David to get out of the car, not wanting him at the hospital.

We then see the same day unfold from David’s point of view, as he’s determined to be strong for his wife but he’s clearly in turmoil. As the episode goes back to reality, the consultant confirms the presence of a tumour on the baby’s neck.

As the couple reel from this information, the consultant explains that if they decide to continue with the pregnancy, Shona will have to undergo complex surgery. As he confirms they are having a baby girl, the consultant shares the worrying news that their daughter’s tumour could be cancerous.

Elsewhere on the Cobbles next week, Carla Connor has Becky Swain sussed once more. After recent events, it seems Becky is back to her games as she claims she’s being spied on at her flat.

Clearly unsure, her ex Lisa Swain asks her outright if she’s telling the truth, but Becky claims to be furious over Lisa’s lack of trust. Carla, Lisa’s fiancée, sees right through her performance and tells Lisa to wake up.

She points out that if Becky was really in danger, the last place she would hide out would be their home where her young daughter Betsy lives. So is Carla right, and when Becky overhears, how will she react?

Also next week, Fiz Brown reaches breaking point amid her husband Tyrone Dobbs’ recovery after a spinal injury. With Fiz feeling alone and juggling caring for the children and work while also assisting Tyrone, we’ve seen her making excuses to get away from the house.

Things take a turn next week as teen daughters Ruby and Hope scream at each other. When Fiz heads to work she breaks down, and starts viciously hitting her sewing machine, as her colleagues watch on helpless, but will Fiz be okay?

Also next week, Eva Price and the Driscolls face more drama when Eva and partner Ben try to keep young son Will on the Cobbles, after his vanishing act this week. With James Bailey offering to be his personal trainer Will isn’t interested, and soon he claims he’s heading to Leeds for an athletics meeting – but it’s clear he’s hiding something.

When he’s dropped off by his old coach Megan he’s devastated to be in Weatherfield. When Ben bumps into Megan he insists on taking her back to the pub for lunch, but will they find out what’s going on with Will?

Elsewhere, Kevin Webster sparks concern with Sally. When Tyrone tells Kevin he’s returning to work in the office, he’s stunned by Kevin’s reaction. Meanwhile, Sally tells husband Tim that Lou’s up in court for fighting in prison.

Soon they clash when Sally spots Tim’s phone is open and is on his ex Trisha’s social media, amid grooming fears. Tim calls out Sally for asking about it, while there’s more drama ahead.
