Carla Connor finally confronted Becky Swain in Monday night’s episode of Coronation Street.
Fans have been caught up in the romance of factory boss Carla and the police officer Lisa since they got together in November last year, and they have become a social media sensation known as Swarla. When Lisa first arrived on the scene, she revealed that her wife Becky, also a police officer, had been killed in the line of duty some years earlier.
But she got a shock a few months ago when it emerged that was all a cover up, and Becky had been alive and well and living in Spain as part of a corrupt cover up. Since making herself known, Becky has spent the last few months turning up unannounced at number six and bonding with their daughter Betsy once again.
Carla recently had to take a trip to Ireland for a funeral, and upon returning, she knew something wasn’t right. Things took a turn for the worse when Becky kissed Lisa during a Halloween party at the end of last week, and in an attempt to be honest, Lisa told Carla all about it.

On the latest instalment of the programme, Becky turned up at number six once again and was taken aback to find just Carla was home. Confronting her fiancée’s ex-wife head on, Carla said: “Look, Becky, I know your daughter is here and I know you want your old life back but the thing is, your old life, it doesn’t exist anymore. Me and Lisa jointly own this house,” before Becky hit back: “That’s just paperwork.”
Unnerved, Carla continued: “It counts for summit, a bit like your old death certificate! As far as the law of the land goes, you are not married anymore. You are underground, probably where you belong.”
After that, Becky started making jibes about Carla’s past and wound the factory boss up by relaying her own memories during her time with Lisa, at with point she was thrown out. Despite all this, Becky has been quite successful in persuading Betsy to move back to Spain with her and even though there would be a lot of logistics in making that happen, the teenager seemed determined.
Having arrived back at number six, Becky reasoned: “I’d make sure she was safe if she stayed longer. Maybe what she’s keen to get away from is being patronised and condescended to.”
Becky has seemingly convinced Betsy to move to Spain with her
Before storming out, Becky reasoned to Lisa that Betsy could go abroad with her for 90 days, at which point she would need to return home if she had not secured a visa, and Betsy suggested they all go together, including Carla.
Fed up, Lisa responded: “You would have to trade everything for the life that she is promising. Her with her fake identity, you’d be as good as on the run. They don’t just hand visas out like confetti you know! I’m sorry Betsy, we can’t all move to Spain. Not to mention your mum’s quote unquote situation, this whole thing is just a pipe dream.”
When Betsy asked her mum Lisa if she’d consider coming to Spain if there were no obstacles, Lisa firmly told her: “No. That wouldn’t be for me.” Later on, Carla, Lisa and Ryan were discussing the whole situation when Betsy wasn’t around. Lisa insisted that she couldn’t go for the simple reason that she can’t speak Spanish but Carla retorted: “You’d pick it up.”
When Lisa asked Carla if she really thought she’d leave her behind, Carla simply said: “I don’t know.” Before all this happened, Lisa admitted she would always have some sort of feelings for Becky because they have a child together.
When Carla demanded to know if Lisa would still want to be with Becky if she was not on the scene, Lisa said: “I’m not going to answer a hypothetical question,” but Carla responded: “You just did.”
