The Women in Blue etched their names in history by clinching the Women’s ODI World Cup trophy in Navi Mumbai. With a commanding 52-run victory, the Indian team players displayed their mettle. Following the victory, congratulatory messages poured in from several quarters to the team. The social media was abuzz with appreciation over the spectacular win.
Amidst the celebrations, two well-known businessmen and diamantaires from Surat, Govind Dholakia, also a Rajya Sabha MP, and Jayantibhai Narola, owners of Shree Ramakrishna Exports, promised each of the players diamond jewellery and rooftop solar panels as gifts. The gifts were declared in recognition of their hard work and determination. At the same time, they said that it was a gesture meant to encourage more women to live their dreams.
Dholakia conveyed his promise to the women players by sending an official letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice president Rajeev Shukla. In his message, the MP also expressed his deep respect for the players for their strength and spirit. The SRK Exports would be proud to gift each player handcrafted diamond jewellery and solar panels also for their homes, to symbolize that the reputation they had brought to the nation will also shine in their own lives.
Jemima Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and Shaifali Verma were among the players who exhibited extraordinary strength and skill while playing the match.
