The first four participants in the tournament to determine the final WWE opponent of John Cena have been confirmed.
Cena’s retirement match will take place on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, DC.
On this past Saturday’s edition of SNME from Salt Lake City, Utah, the method by which Cena’s opponent will be decided was announced.
There will be a 16-man tournament kicking off on next week’s WWE Raw in Boston, Massachusetts, where Cena will make his next appearance.
On tonight’s Raw, the draw took place for the first two matches in the tournament with names being picked out of a tumbler.
It was noted in the initial announcement that the participants in the tournament would be chosen “at random.”
The four names drawn out of the tumbler were Rusev, Damian Priest, Shinsuke Nakamura and Sheamus.
Therefore, two of the eight first round matches in the tournament are Rusev vs Damian Priest, and Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sheamus.
There are still 12 more names to be added to the tournament. Nick Aldis will draw the next two first round matches on SmackDown this Friday.
The announcement specifically said that the tournament would feature stars from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and even faces from outside of WWE.
