Lidl has issued an urgent ‘do not eat’ warning about cashew nuts. The supermarket giant is recalling Simply Roasted & Salted Cashews due to a possible presence of glass in the product, which may be a choking hazard.
This means the product could pose a potential health risk for anyone who consumes it. An allergy alert notice published by the Food Standards Agency stated: “Lidl GB is recalling Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews because the product may contain glass, making it unsafe to eat.
“Lidl GB is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.”
In its guidance to shoppers, people have been told, “Do not eat it.”
The statement added: “If you have bought the above product, do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For further information, please contact Lidl Customer Care on customer.care@lidl.co.uk or 0203 966 5566.”
