Britain’s embattled statistics agency will stop producing swathes of its data after a crisis affecting crucial economic figures was worsened by it “doing too much, too quickly and on too many fronts.”
The Office for National Statistics has been producing an unsustainable amount of figures while struggling to get enough households to answer surveys underpinning the most important economic estimates, according to James Benford, its director general of economic statistics.
