Kevin Walters has named his side for the final Rugby League Ashes Test at AMT Headingley on Saturday, and there has been minimal changes, as the Green and Gold look to take a 3-0 series win.
Following his failed HIA test in the first Test at Wembley, captain Isaah Yeo was forced to miss the rest of that game and the second Test at Everton due to concussion protocols.
The Penrith Panthers loose forward is now back available for selection, and he fits straight back into the starting line-up, in what is the only change to Walters’ 17.
Yeo’s club teammate, Lindsay Smith, who came onto the bench in his absence last week, has dropped back out, with Lindsay Collins returning to the bench and Brisbane’s Patrick Carrigan moving to the front row.
Despite the Kangaroos receiving two yellow cards at Everton, there were no incidents deemed suspension-worthy, so both Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and Reece Walsh are available for Walters as he looks to keep Australia’s winning form going.
Should the 17 named to take on England all play, it will mean that Australia have used just 18 of their 24-man travelling squad this Ashes series.
Hooker Blayke Brailey, halves Mitchell Moses and Ethan Strange, centre Bradman Best, full-back Dylan Edwards and back-rower Jacob Preston will not see any game time this tour as it stands, with Walters opting to go for what he believes is his strongest squad each week. He thinks the players who have earned the series win “deserve” to play the final Test.
Australia squad to face England at AMT Headingley: 1. Reece Walsh; 2. Mark Nawaqanitawase, 3. Kotoni Staggs, 4. Gehamat Shibasaki, 5. Josh Addo-Carr; 6. Cameron Munster, 7. Nathan Cleary; 8.
