St Helens

Former St Helens forward Dominique Peyroux has penned a deal to join French Super XIII side Albi for the 2025-26 season.

Albi are the reigning French champions and they’ll fancy their chances of retaining their title after landing a two-time Super League Grand Final winner in Peyroux.

The former Cook Islands international has agreed a deal for the remainder of the Super XIII season and it comes following his release by Championship title winners Toulouse Olympique. Peyroux spent five seasons with Toulouse and helped the club to promotion on two occasions.

The first promotion came in 2021, his first season with the club after leaving St Helens. He then went on to play 16 games in Super League for the French outfit but his experience couldn’t save them from relegation. The second promotion came just last month with Toulouse winning the Championship Grand Final before being selected to be promoted to Super League by an independent panel.

Peyroux made just one appearance for Toulouse last season, though, due to an Achilles injury and at the age of 36 he was released. He will continue his career with Albi and he’ll be keen to help them kick on after winning four of their opening five league games.

Peyroux isn’t the only recognisable name in the Tigers’ ranks with Catalans Dragons record scorer Fouad Yaha, Corentin Le Cam, Robin Brochon, Maxime Puech and Romain Franco also at the club. Tony Gigot and Ben Shea are on the coaching staff, too.

“I am very happy to join an ambitious club like Albi, with a solid project and a great history,” Peyroux said. “I can’t wait to get back on the field and share my passion with the Albi fans.”

Peyroux started his career with Gold Coast Titans and made 16 first grade appearances before moving on to join hometown club New Zealand Warriors.

He joined St Helens in 2016 and made a total of 122 appearances for the club. As mentioned above, he won Super League Grand Finals in 2019 and 2020, while he also featured in the 2019 Challenge Cup defeat to Warrington Wolves under Justin Holbrook.
