Shoppers eager to secure a cheaper iPhone in the Black Friday sales don’t have to wait, as Apple’s latest smartphone has already seen a price cut at one retailer. The deal giffgaff who are offering the new iPhone 17 with unlimited data for £35.67 per month.
This is the best price we’ve ever seen for an iPhone 17 with unlimited data since it launched in September. It equates to roughly £1.15 per day and offers a saving of £90 compared to the usual £38.17 price tag, with shoppers only needing to pay a £40 upfront cost to take advantage of the deal.
There are more affordable plans with smaller data allowances for those aiming to keep expenses low, starting from 10GB for £30.67 per month. Shoppers can also secure hefty savings when trading in an old phone, with anyone selling their iPhone 16 through giffgaff recycle receiving up to £345 towards their iPhone 17.
Currently, giffgaff stocks the iPhone 17 in a choice of black or white, with other colours expected to be back in stock soon. This is the 256GB storage device, complete with Apple’s new iOS 26 straight out of the box.
It’s worth bearing in mind that giffgaff’s iPhone 17 contract comprises two elements: an 18-month data plan and a 36-month handset plan. Additionally, remember that giffgaff operates on the O2 network, so customers should verify their coverage before making a commitment, reports Birmingham Live.
For those not covered, Vodafone offers the iPhone 17 for £42.74 per month with a £30 upfront payment on its unlimited data package. Both alternatives prove more budget-friendly than competing retailers like Sky Mobile, where the identical model with unlimited data costs £45 monthly plus an upfront fee.
Additional offers in giffgaff’s Black Friday promotion feature the Samsung Galaxy S25 at £28.09 monthly with £20 upfront. Another alternative is the Google Pixel 10 Pro, priced at £27.53 monthly and £20 upfront.
However, for Apple enthusiasts, our Technology Editor David Snelling reviewed the iPhone 17 earlier this year and awarded it a glowing five stars. He said: “This is not a phone to ignore, in fact, it’s possibly the best iPhone for most people in 2025.
“The better screen, more power from the A19 chip, longer battery and improved cameras are all upgrades general consumers want, love and need, and that’s why I think this is such a fabulous phone. Other features that make a welcome return to the iPhone 17 include Crash Detection, SOS messaging via satellites, and an Ultra-Wideband chip inside that enables precision finding for AirTags.
“You still get the Dynamic Island notch, fast Face ID unlocking and the Action Button for quick access to favourites such as the Torch. My only negatives are that it now only comes in one size — you’ll need to buy the iPhone Air or Pro Max if you want a bigger screen — and it looks identical to the iPhone 16.
“But if you’ve been pondering an upgrade, this is without doubt the year to splash out.”
