Great Britain’s Kieran Reilly won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Great Britain’s Olympic BMX freestyle silver medalist Kieran Reilly and European champion Dylan Hessey did not travel to Riyadh for this weekend’s Urban Cycling World Championships after picking up injuries.

Reilly was among the favourites heading into the Men’s Freestyle Park event on Saturday but suffered a setback related to the broken foot he sustained in April.

The 24-year-old from Gateshead – who landed two world-first tricks in Manchester before the injury – was hoping to win his second world title after his maiden victory at the 2023 World Championships in Glasgow.

The absence of Reilly and Hessey means Jordan Clark, Jude Jones and Reef Way will lead the way for Great Britain after securing qualification in Friday’s semi-final.

Sasha Pardoe was unable to compete in the women’s qualification competition after she fell in training on Friday, while Elsa Rendall Todd finished 20th and did not qualify for the final.
