Pixel Watch 4 Leak Reveals Bold New Side-Mounted Charging Design
While the highlight of Google’s upcoming event would remain to be the Pixel 10 series, many are anticipating the tech giant’s wearable upgrade that is also set for the big event. It has not been long since the specifications leaked about the next Pixel Watch 4, confirming the sizes 41mm and 45mm. There was also sparse information regarding a new feature that will be added to the smartwatch. It looks like we now have the details on the change underway, and it is bigger than you might have anticipated.
A report by Android Headlines points out that Google is completely revamping the charging setup of the Pixel Watch 4. Instead of its classic charging design featured on the back, similar to earlier models, the company is pivoting in a different direction by moving the spot to the left side of the smartwatch, which would make it directly opposite to the digital crown. The leaked images of the wearable show a small dip on the left side of the watch, which has two small metal pins and basically the new charging area.
By moving the charging design from the back to the side, Google is freeing up space that could be used to bring on board more advanced health-centric features such as health sensors, wellness tracking, and heart rate monitoring, which the tech giant brought in with the Pixel Watch 3 as well. It not only helps create more area for capabilities, but it can also have practical use since the device could be easily glanced at and checked on while sitting on your desk or nightstand. The report also suggests that the new charging design even supports higher charging speeds compared to its predecessor.
Not only does the new charging design bring about more practical use, but it is also laid out in this way to improve on the Pixel Watch 4’s repairability. This is because it would be easier now to remove the back panel to access the internal components during repairs, and doing away with the charging spot from the rear casing simplifies the process. The new charging dock would be coming in the box, but there would be no USB-C power adapter added this time around, and users would have to get it separately.
