Dale Maguire, 31, will be boxing at the Queen’s Market in Rhyl on March 20, 2026, coinciding with what would have been the 31st birthday of his friend, Jordan Eccles.

Mr Eccles died aged 29 at his home in Rhyl in July 2024.

Dale will be boxing in aid of the charity Back & Forth Men’s Mental Health, for whom he has already raised more than £2,000 – www.justgiving.com/page/dale-maguire-1.

“Jordan was full of life, laughter, and loyalty, and he meant the world to me; it was a devastating loss for everyone who knew and loved him,” he said.

“To honour his memory, and at the request of his amazing mum Marie, I’m raising money for a cause that means a lot to both of us.

“Although Jordan’s passing wasn’t related to mental health, this is an issue that’s very personal to me.

“I’ve struggled with my own mental health over the years, and I know how tough it can be for men to speak up, to ask for help, or even to admit they’re struggling.

“So, I’ll be fighting in Jordan’s name – for him, for myself, and for every man who feels like they’re fighting their own battles in silence.”

Back & Forth Men’s Mental Health was founded in memory of Marc Forth, a police officer who died by suicide in April 2023.

The charity was founded six months later, and aims to provide a safe space for men to share their struggles.

Dale added: “Let’s make this fight count – for Jordan, and for every man out there who needs to know they’re not alone.”
