New mum Jordan Peachey, 35, found herself in a critical condition and feeling deeply let down by her local healthcare provider.

Just weeks after giving birth, she was in severe pain and could barely walk — her instincts told her something was seriously wrong.

Having previously suffered from a blood clot, Mrs Peachey recognised the signs. But despite attending multiple appointments with different doctors, she was repeatedly sent home with medication that did little to ease her symptoms.

“I had a two-week-old baby and could barely walk. I kept telling them something wasn’t right, but no one listened,” she said.

A friend recommended Dr Salim Shafeek, Consultant Haematologist at Droitwich Spa Hospital, part of Circle Health Group who took ‘immediate action’.

After reviewing a photo of her leg, he quickly identified the severity of the situation — a large blood clot stretching from just above her belly button to her ankle.

While it was too late for surgery, he urgently changed her medication and arranged a hospital appointment to begin treatment and manage her care.

“His intervention honestly saved my life,” Mrs Peachey said. “At that point, I could barely make it to the toilet, let alone leave the house.

“His fast response, and the compassionate care I received at Droitwich Spa Hospital, made all the difference during a terrifying time.”

Now receiving regular therapy, Mrs Peachey of Alcester, Warickshire, is well on the road to recovery. Her mobility has improved dramatically, and she is walking again.

“Finding Dr Shafeek felt like a lifeline. I’ll always be grateful — not just for his medical expertise, but for the kindness, urgency, and care shown by him and the whole team at Droitwich Spa Hospital.”

Dr Shafeek said: “I was shocked by the condition she was left in and how delayed her care was. This was a serious and extensive clot that needed urgent attention. Seeing her recover as well is incredibly rewarding. I admire her strength, especially having gone through this so soon after giving birth. I’m glad I could help her get back to normal life.”
