The rugby league Ashes concluded on Saturday and the RFL have now confirmed the results of the disciplinary inquest following the game.

As is the case in the domestic rugby league season, a disciplinary panel have met every Monday to determine whether any charges or bans should be handed down following the weekend action.

No charges were brought following the opening two Tests at Wembley and the Hill Dickinson Stadium, despite three men being sent to the sin bin in that second Test, including star man Reece Walsh who had taken England’s Dom Young out in the air.

Saturday’s third and final Test at Headingley was a relatively quiet affair on the disciplinary front with the only real moment of note being when Josh Addo-Carr and Harry Newman got into it in the in-goal, leading to a minor scuffle that involved Jez Litten and a number of Australians.

No action was taken on field and the same can be said of the Match Review Panel with the RFL confirming that no charges have been handed down following the third and final Ashes Test.

That disciplinary panel was comprised of Paul Cullen from the RFL and Luke Patten from Australia.

What would have happened if Ashes stars got banned?

Any bans for Super League players would have affected pre-season games with the RFL ruling being that players can serve a maximum of two pre-season trials as part of their ban.

Had a longer ban been handed out then the extra games would have to be served in competitive games, with the first of those for Super League sides being the third round of the Challenge Cup which is set to be played on the weekend of the 7th and 8th of February.

One Super League player who will miss games in pre-season and miss the early part of the campaign due to suspension is new Castleford Tigers signing Jack Ashworth, after he landed a seven-game ban when playing for Hull FC.

Ashworth has served two games already, will serve two in pre-season, then miss the Challenge Cup game and two more Super League games.
