Big Brother viewers were left in tears during the latest episode

Viewers of the latest episode of Big Brother confessed they had to hit ‘mute’ during tonight’s show.

This followed emotional scenes in Monday’s episode (November 10). All the housemates ventured into the EyeDeal Mini Mart for the last time to make their final purchases.

Big Brother presented extra special items during its closing down sale, allowing the contestants to spend their remaining eyeball currency. This time, letters from home, written by loved ones, were up for grabs.

Despite not all housemates having enough eyeballs to individually purchase their letters, everyone ensured each person received theirs. Marcus generously spent some of his eyes so that Teja, who was left penniless after the previous task, could have her letter.

Jenny and Marcus made sure to buy Emily’s letter while they were at the shop. However, Emily had to ask Richard to help piece hers together as it had been shredded during a previous shopping task by Farida, reports OK!.

Big Brother then assembled all the housemates on the sofas to read their letters aloud. It wasn’t long before emotions ran high among both the housemates and those tuning in.

Jenny selected Cameron to read her letter. Cameron read out, ” ‘Hey Jenny-bells, it’s your wee Ma here… Your name is up in lights all over the city and in the North of Ireland, and we couldn’t be any more prouder of our girl… Go smash the last few days, we will all be here waiting for you when those doors open…’ “.

Richard picks Emily to read his letter aloud.

Emily says, “It’s from Khen and family. ‘Hi Dad… you have no idea how much we miss you… I just wanted to remind you of something you taught me, that life is not about winning but about never giving up… we love you deeply and can’t wait to hear all about your experience…’ “.

Countless fans confessed they were left in floods of tears, with one posting on social media: “Who’s cutting onions around here. I can never cope with the letters from home.”

Another wrote: “Why is this the saddest thing and I don’t even know them?” A third remarked: “Not sure I’m strong enough for the reading of these letters right now please.”

Someone else confessed: “Richard’s letter from his adopted – son nah I’m not an emotional person but that got me in the throat oml.” Another declared: “I was absolutely fine till Richard’s letter, MY GOD.”

Meanwhile someone else shared: “Letters from home is always my favourite episode of any reality show where they are living away from their homes.” Yet some found themselves rather distracted and revealed they were compelled to silence their televisions.

One person revealed: “I might have to put this part on mute. I’m going to cry so bad.” The ITV programme decided to accompany the scene with some sorrowful music but it didn’t sit well with everyone.

A viewer confessed: “I can barely hear them reading out the letters with the music.” Another viewer joked: “Big Brother playing over the top X Factor style sob story music over letters is jarring. Make it stop.”

Big Brother continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
