With I’m a Celeb back to give the nation its jungle fix this weekend, bosses have revealed that they are implementing a major rule that will change how the infamous Bushtucker Trials are played.

Ant and Dec will be back on our screens on November 16 to drop ten new celebrities into the Australian jungle, with the stars set to take on terrifying heights, gruesome snacks and drinks, and a wide range of creepy crawlies.

And with the ITV competition show now in its 25th series, sources are saying that this year’s show is set to be the “most memorable yet”.

With many fans counting down to the launch show, I’m a Celeb bosses have revealed they will be making a major change to its Bushtucker Trials.

In an effort to clamp down on stars doing repeated trials and hogging the limelight, the rule shake up means that the celebrities will no longer be able to do more than two Bushtucker Trials in a now.

Insiders have claimed that this rule change will give more contestants a chance to shine on the show and endear themselves to the public.

Additionally, this switch up also comes off the back of Dean McCullough being voted to do a total of seven Bushtucker Trials last year – two of which he ended early.

At the time, even host Ant McPartlin expressed his frustration with the star repeatedly getting the most votes from the public, saying: “Who’s still voting for Dean, I don’t get it.”

Fans were also sceptical over Dean’s tears, with some claiming he was faking them to ensure he would get voted again. However, Dean later insisted that his tears were “100 per cent real”.

On top of this, back in 2023, contestant Nigel Farage noted how those going to the challenges got “25 per cent of the airtime” while the show was being broadcast.

Essentially, this rule change will mean the public won’t be able to target certain celebrities as much as they did before.

Other well known repeat Bushtucker trial victims include Helen Flanagan and Gillian McKeith, who is most well known for fainting during a live trial.

It remains to be seen how effective this rule will be, as while viewers will be unable to vote for the celeb for a third day in a row, this system will “reset” to allow the public to vote for them again.

A source said: “Celebrities all want the opportunity to take on a Bushtucker Trial and bring home stars for camp. Viewers would much prefer to see different celebrities take on the iconic Bushtucker Trials as opposed to the same person every day.”

Bosses have said that they are keen for more celebrities to shine while on the show, and have taken on feedback from previous contestants who wanted the trials to be spread more evenly.

The source added: “This is a great move for fans of the show so we don’t see the same faces doing the trials, as well as uncovering new favourites. Plus it’s a win-win for the celebs too, who are keen for more chances to get their personalities across.”

There have been several celebrities over the years who have taken on multiple trails. Back in 2016, actor Adam Thomas performed 12 trials, while Scarlett Moffat took on ten in the same year.

Janic Dickinson and Jacqueline Jossa also undertook ten trials in 2007 and 2019 respectively, while Helen Flanagan did seven trials in 2012 – however, most of these were swiftly aborted.

The confirmed 2025 cast includes Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley, YouTuber Morgan Burtwistle, known as Angry Ginge, EastEnders actress Shona McGarty, comedian Ruby Wax, TV presenter Alex Scott and Jack Osbourne.

To catch the new series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, the launch show hits our screens at 9pm on November 16 on ITV.
