Geraint Jones, aged 64, was involved in a collision involving a van, near to Bontnewydd at around 8.30pm on Sunday, 9 November.
The family of a man who died in a crash in Gwynedd have paid tribute to him. North Wales Police responded to a report of a collision involving a van and a pedestrian on the A487 near Bontnewydd at around 8.30pm on Sunday.
This saw the Caernarfon bypass closed in both directions as emergency services responded.
Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have now named him as Geraint Jones, aged 64, with a tribute paid to him from his family.
His family said: “We are absolutely devastated at the loss of a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
“As a family, we would like to thank the emergency services and all others involved in trying to help Geraint on the night of Sunday, 9 November.
“We would also like to thank everyone for the kind messages of love and support at this sad time.
“Geraint leaves a wife, Mary, sons Richard and Patrick, and grandchildren Ella, Leo and Isaac.”
Sergeant Katie Davies from the force’s Roads Policing Unit said: “I share my deepest condolences with the man’s family at this incredibly difficult time.
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to contact police.
“I am also appealing to anyone who was travelling along the A487 prior to 8.30pm yesterday evening and saw a man walking along the bypass to contact us.
“Anybody with information that could assist with our investigations should contact police via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference C174462.”
