Australia and NRL star Cameron Munster has once again confirmed that he is open for a move to Super League, but only if the decision is right for his family.

The half-back, who was named Player of the Series across the three Ashes Tests, first stated in a post-match interview after the Wembley opener that he would “love to come over”.

He has since reaffirmed those desires, and speaking after the final Test at Headingley, explained his ambition to be a Super League player at some point in his career.

Munster, who is currently 31 and has a deal at Melbourne Storm until the end of 2027, is a man with 236 NRL appearances, and has two Grand Final Premierships to his name.

At Origin level, he has featured for Queensland in five winning campaigns, and has won the Player of the Match three times at that level.

Speaking to the Australian press in Leeds, Munster said he would love to test himself in a new environment, after playing his whole career at Melbourne.

He said: “If I get the opportunity, I’d love to come over to England. You just never know.

“I’ve been very selfish in a way, staying in the same spot (in Melbourne) all the time, and so whatever’s best for my family, if they want to come over and explore England and the world, I’m more than happy to come over.

Many esteemed NRL players who make the move in their 30’s often don’t perform at the level expected of them, be that age, failure to adapt or an elevated ego where they believe the English competition isn’t as difficult as the NRL.

However, Munster confirmed that, should he make the move, it will be due to wanting to improve his rugby league career and not for a final pay check.

“I’ll make sure I come over here with the right attitude,” he added.

“I’m not going to come over just to take the money – but to play good footy.

“If I’d wanted to take the money, I would have taken it three or four years ago.”

The 2026 season will see a number of overseas talent joining the Northern Hemisphere, with players such as Toby Sexton, Albert Hopoate and David Klemmer all joining Super League clubs next year.
