It took just a few minutes of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here returning for its new series on Sunday night, for some tired viewers to push for a petition to make a major change to the hit show. And it’s all to do with what time it’s on.

For 23 years now, I’m A Celebrity has been one of the most watched programmes on British television. Since its launch back in 2022, when Tony Blackburn was crowned King of the Jungle, I’m A Celeb has proved to be unmissable TV and not even Covid could force it on air, with ITV bosses instead moving the show from Australia to a castle in Wales to allow it to continue during the pandemic.

Last year’s jungle title was taken by McFly’s Danny Jones and, on Sunday evening, millions of viewers got their first look at the I’m A Celebrity 2025 line-up in action, with Ant and Dec at the helm. Stars taking part this year include Martin Kemp, Kelly Brook, Jack Osbourne and early bookies favourite to win, Angryginge, with them joining the likes of Eddie Kadi and Aitch as the new series launched in its usual 9pm slot.

And it’s the fact that I’m A Celebrity is on at 9 o’clock every night and often goes on for well over an hour, with its launch episode on until 10.35pm, that continues to be a gripe for a number of its fans. As the new series started, a post appeared on Facebook reading: ‘Going to start a petition for I’m A Celebrity to starts at 8pm for us grandmas.’

The idea quickly got plenty of support, with a fellow I’m A Celeb fan replied: ‘Not even the grandmas just us folk that go to work on Monday morning’ as another commented: ‘I’ve had a nana nap in prep!”

Those sentiments were echoed on X, as one irate and, presumably tired, viewer, ranted: ‘Who commissioned I’m a Celebrity to be on at 9pm….. There’s absolutely no need, do they not know their target audience goes to bed at 8pm.’
